Hacking begins in last day of lunar June

We had a hard time deciding on how what to do, to keep or to throw. But finally, we had decided to engage my parents old friend.

During the walk-thru, he did point out that there are things that are worth keeping while some are not worth.

Example, those darker places have to be brighten as this will bring better energy to the house & easier to sell or rent in the furture. Also, when doing reno, its not about getting cheap thing all over.

"Its Always Quality First and Price Second. No point sting over some things that are 30% cheaper but 50% of the lifespan. Which in terms translate, if you buy cheap tiles, you may pay $700 instead of $1,000. But if half the lifespan, the tile starts to flake or crack. The replacement cost will be a lot more that then $300. So in the end of the day you spend more time & money."

So start of the above theory. Laminates flooring are cheaper alternatives to parquet and are available in very existing colour. However, its made of compress sawdust & wood chips which translate poorer resistant to water and will bloat when soaked. Both parquet & laminate can rot if moist over long term, so both require equal care. But the killer is, if parquet rot particularly outside the bathroom you can remove that few piece cos the are independent. But for laminate, they are interlock. Meaning you have to remove all of them or at least up to skirting on the wall to replace that few pcs. So that cost more to maintain over a longer period.

Our reno was very last minute, they have to "Kai-Gong" on the last day of lunar June. So that it doesn't fall into the un-auspicious 7th Month.

This photos were taken like in early Sept where the 7th month is ended.

Actually, I kinda like the concrete flooring but im sure the queen will definitely disapprove the industrial look.
About the Brightness, my dad advise to remove the compressor & luckily the contractor found a place to reposition it. Also, the contractor also suggest to shift the window to the external hole previously giving us problem when raining.

so now the kitchen has no windows & have maximum light to light from yard to light up the kitchen interior.
